Travellers spent EUR 217 million in the Jyväskylä region in 2015
According to the recent travel income and employment survey, roughly 2.6 million people visited the Jyväskylä region in 2015. Of these, more than 100,000 came from abroad. The number of travellers in the Jyväskylä region has remained fairly stable in the 2010s, regardless of the recent decrease in the number of Russian travellers.
According to a recent report from Statistics Finland, there were 582,000 overnight stays in the Jyväskylä region in 2016, an increase of 2.7% from the year before. Of these, 86% were by Finnish travellers and 14% by foreign travellers. The largest groups of travellers came from Germany (14,300) and Russia (7,200). The most rapidly growing groups were from the USA (up 49%) and the UK (up 15%).
