Subsidies of two million euros from the Ministry of Employment and the Economy for the biogas plant of Mustankorkea

The Ministry of Employment and the Economy has granted subsidies of EUR 2.2 million for the biogas plant to be built by Mustankorkea. The subsidies received by Mustankorkea account for 27 per cent of the investment of EUR 8 million.

Waste management company Mustankorkea Oy is building a biogas plant based on the dry fermentation technology in Jyväskylä. It will be the largest biogas plant in Central Finland. The purpose is to produce, for example, traffic fuels from food waste and sludge generated at wastewater purification plants.

The biogas plant has a legally-valid environmental permit and a bidding process for the project has already been completed, even though an appeal has been issued to the Market Court. The biogas plant will be built next to a composting plant and, together, the plants will form a uniform system. If the project proceeds as planned, the biogas plant will be completed in spring 2017. The appeal may delay the completion of the plant.
