Digital services for everyday needs being developed in the Kangas district in Jyväskylä

A smart urban ecosystem is being built in the Kangas district of Jyväskylä, offering companies and research institutes excellent means to develop solutions that make everyday life easier.

Ericsson takes part in the smart city project in the Kangas district in Jyväskylä. The 5K project develops a testing platform for whole new smart city solutions and services by combining sensor data collected from different sources.

Kangas is the most significant regional development project in Jyväskylä, formerly home to a paper mill and a smart district of the future with 5,000 inhabitants and 2,100 jobs. The University of Jyväskylä and Ericsson, together with their partners, are developing and testing new smart solutions for people living in the district in the project funded by the Innovative Cities (INKA) -programme of Tekes.

Planned projects are running 1.1.2016 – 31.5.2017.
