Neste Oil Rally Finland, round eight of the FIA World Rally Championship, takes place from 30 July-2 August

The super-fast gravel spectacular has been a must-win rally since the WRC began in 1973 and this year’s edition will be no different with 88 crews set to tackle the spectacular stages around host city Jyväskylä in Central Finland, a 270-kilometre drive north from the capital Helsinki.

Starting out as the Jyväskylän Suurajot (Jyväskylä Grand Prix) in 1951, the event became known as the 1000 Lakes Rally in 1965 and, 31 years later, Neste Rally Finland and Neste Oil Rally Finland as part of a move to widen its commercial appeal. Throughout that time, drivers have been put to the ultimate high-speed test on smooth gravel roads littered with jumps and crests and lined by trees and lakes.

Twenty stages over a competitive distance of 320 kilometres make up the challenge of this year’s Neste Oil Rally Finland with the start on Thursday 30 July and finish in Jyväskylä’s Paviljonki three days later.
