The Central Finland Rescue Department urges residents to check the functionality of their fire alarms

According to initial information from the Finnish National Rescue Association, a total of 87 people died in fires in 2014. The number shows a significant increase from 2013. It seems that the good work to promote fire safety over the past few years has not yet permanently improved the fire death situation.

The Central Finland Rescue Department urges residents to check the functionality of their fire alarms, fireplaces and equivalent electric heating systems. Any unnecessary items should be removed from the vicinity of the kitchen stove. In addition, technological solutions are available for preventing stove fires.
