The new service counselling system of the early education services will streamline the day care application process

Jyväskylä's early education services have developed the day care application practices. In future, applications to both municipal and private day care centres will go through an early education service counselling team.

“The new application processing practices have been developed based on customer feedback. We wanted to make the application process easier for families and to create a unified set of practices for private and municipal day care services,” says district manager Tuija Pajunen of the early education service centre.

Rapid, customer-oriented service

The electronic application for municipal and private day care services can be found at

The application is directed to a service counselling team that will arrange a day care place for the child in accordance with the family's wishes. The family receives a notification of the day care place reserved for the child and will have an opportunity to visit the day care facilities when the start of the day care period is approaching. Details will be agreed on by telephone approximately one month before the start of the day care period. A successful beginning to day care includes an initial meeting, visits to the day care facilities and the presence of a parent when the child first starts in day care.
