Award to Jyväskylä in a short-story competition

The Embassy of Canada in Finland together with Tammi Publishers, The Association of Teachers of English in Finland, and the Fulbright Centre wanted to support creative writers of the future by holding a short story writing competition in honour of Canadian author Alice Munro’s Nobel Prize for literature.

The Canadian Embassy received 86 short stories by the appointed time. Three students, who are currently enrolled in upper-secondary schools in Finland, won the short-story competition. The winners are from schools located in Helsinki, Jyväskylä and Turku. The young award-winning writer from Jyväskylä is Ms Noora Kuusenoja.

Congratulations!
