Naming of the “Jyväskylä” tram car in Potsdam

Jyväskylä tram in PotsdamA tramcar named “Jyväskylä” was inaugurated in Potsdam, the twin city of Jyväskylä, on 5 May 2014.

A study group of 13 people in the German language and culture for the elderly, organised by the Summer University of Jyväskylä and led by Petra Linderoos, the chair of the Finnish-German Society in Jyväskylä, and a student group from the University of Jyväskylä, led by Joachim Böger, participated in the inauguration of the tram car in Potsdam on 5 May 2014.

Communication between the people of Potsdam and Jyväskylä has been very successful, to a large extent thanks to certain key people: Eva Gretsch, a twin city activist, Petra Linderoos from the Finnish-German Society, and Dr. Joachim Böger from the University of Jyväskylä have actively built and upheld contacts between the cities.

Jyväskylä and Potsdam have been twin cities since 1985, and many forms of cooperation have taken place between the cities among schools as well as specialists in different fields.
With the “Jyväskylä” tramcar in operation, Jyväskylä is once again closer to the people of Potsdam in a nice manner.
