Jyväskylä's daycare and school network proposal seeks balance between the increase in the number of children, and financial boundary conditions

Jyväskylä's daycare and school network proposal for 2014–2025 was published on 20 February 2014 and is available here:

The preparation committee has considered the city's daycare and school network on the basis of financial boundary conditions, service policies, new population forecasts and zoning programmes. Based on the review, the need for daycare use will increase by about 8% by 2025, and the number of children 7–15 years of age will increase by about 14% by 2020.

The daycare and school network proposed will ensure that daycare centres and schools will cater to the future needs of the city's major areas. The main changes proposed are
related to the school network. The review proposes that small schools be shut down by 2020.

For daycare and preschool education, the most significant change is to shut down the remaining small units and to increase resources by forming more extensive daycare centres u upon the construction of renovated and new daycare centres. Daycare will also shut down the smallest units by 2020.
