Traditions appreciated in the Jyväskylä resident communication survey results

According to a resident communication survey implemented in Jyväskylä, the residents give the communication by the city a satisfactory 7.14 out of 10.

The majority of respondents are of the opinion that reliable information is easily available in Jyväskylä, and the information is well-defined and understandable. On the other hand, more than 50% of the respondents stated that the communication on decision-making options or the impact of hearing the residents, or feedback, is insufficient.

The survey was taken by 283 residents of Jyväskylä in September and October 2013.

The most important issues and ways of influencing

Healthcare service information is clearly needed the most frequently. Sport and outdoor activities, culture and map and traffic matters also appeal to more than 50% of the respondents.

More than 50% of the respondents were of the opinion that the city should communicate more on major projects, matters under preparation, service changes, service availability, the financial situation of the city, and the impact of decisions.

Among the communication channels, the city's own communication magazine and the local newspaper are the preferred information acquisition channels, and the city's website is the third.

The most important ways of influencing are voting, the option to appeal a decision, resident meetings and hearings, as well as direct contact by phone and email. Even though the variety of choices is considered to be an important thing, they are used only rarely. One-third of respondents had not used any of the ways of influencing.
