INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS

The city of Jyväskylä promotes the international activity of the region in several ways in cooperation with business life, educational institutions and organisations. International cooperation is systematic and goal-oriented work in order to develop the city and its personnel. An integral part is the acceptance of cultural diversity in the city. Key words are international visibility, mobility and networks.

In the administration of the city the international activities are decentralised. Most departments and service centres have a person responsible for the international relations.

Poznan has been a twin city of Jyväskylä since 1974. Anna Valkonen is staying in Poznan as an Erasmus exchange student since autumn 2009. Anna has been studying English, intercultural communication and tourism at the University of Jyväskylä for four years.
